TetraPak completion

The TetraPak automated conveyor project was successfully completed to schedule and with minimal disruption to the clients live operation.

Despite a demanding schedule and the requirement to work in a live environment  Logistex successfully completed the project which included  a pallet conveyor installation for Tetra-Pak in Lund (Sweden), ahead of time, within budget and with out affecting day to day operation. The new pallet conveyor replaced the existing transportation system, which relied heavily upon two transfer cars, allowing a rise in throughput and greater level of reliability and availability.

Tetra-Pak were suffering from the reliability of an aging transfer car system which was therefore providing low availability, combining this with a requirement for increased throughput meant a solution needed to be found, TetraPak therefore looked for an alternative equipment arrangement based on pallet conveyor technology throughout the system. As the site is a 24/7 and 365 operation the project had to be completed during operational hours with out any adverse affects on TetraPak’s ability to achieve key service levels. Changes to the Existing WCS and PLC controls had to be made so close customer integration and strong project Management process were key to the project sucess.

Within the Logistex Project management approach we identified and mitigated risks and maintained a high level of customer communication. By deploying a local conveyor supplier we were able to match both the philosophy and technical requirements of the project.  Steering group meetings where held on a regular basis between senior Management from both companies and a detailed testing strategy was put in place early in the project, both of which ensured a smooth, and importantly to TetraPak, predictable go live.
